The Secret Garden

What I thought & Impression
I was surprised at Mary," What a selfish and strange girl she is", I thought at first. Because, she thought only herself, she couldn't put on her clothes. Especially, she wanted to have her own way all the time. When someone or something
disturbed her or what she wanted to do, she became cross and hated the someone or something. While, she was always desperately. She thought that there were no persons who loved her. And she also loved nobody. This was shocked me. Mary was only nine years old. What a poor little girl! I hoped that she will be in good health and really childlike.
She met Martha who is the one of servants. She was a kind girl. Martha was the first servant who contradicted Mary. I thought this was very important for Mary. Martha proposed to Mary that she go out side and play in the gardens. She met Ben Weatherstaff and the robin in the gardens. Mary liked them. However, she thought they didn't like her. But, the little bird ;robin behaved as if he wanted to make friends with Mary. Mary was very happy. Mary liked the little bird, and the little bird liked Mary. I thought this set off opening her mind. When Mary told Martha "There were nothing to play with in the garden". Martha asked " My brothers and sisters play with whatever they can find. They just run about and look at things." This expression carried me back to my childhood. When I was young , I played in rice fields, hills and fields, river, and lanes by myself. There were nothing special. However I enjoyed playing there. Because, I found something that I was intrested, I play with that and Ifound somthing one after another. I was never tired of playing by myself. I was fascinated with everything there. For example, cricket in rice fields, leaves which have several color and shape, the blreeze skimming along the field, sky, smell of grasses and so on. However now if I have to play by myself in such places, I cannot enjoy all day long. I still love nature but I cannot play simply as like a childhood. I means that this is characteristic of child. And this experience is essential for child. This experience makes children healthy and curious, I think. Soon Mary finds the key to the secret garden. she is excited when she thinks about the secret garden. I can undersatand this feeling of Mary. "Secret" is very important. "Secret" means "Nobody knows". I remember that I made a secret playground called "Himitsukichi" in Japaneses, when I was young. Like this, this book give a vivid description of mind and feeling of children. I like this point. Afterwards, Mary meets Dickon who is Martha's brother. He teachs Mary about gardening. He is really friendly and kind. He also makes Mary good. Also, she meets Colin who is a son of Mr.Craven. Colin wasnot taken care of by father;Mr.Craven. So he always felt lonely and he didn't like living. He wanted to die because he thought that his father and all people want this. "He is resembles old Mary" I thought. Mary encourges him. And she promises to him that she will be let him go to outside and play at the secret garden with her. Colin will be a helthy and good boy. Everything happened secret garden makes them good. Mary, Dickon and Colin get along with, and they help each other. Colin couldnot stand and walk by himself first. However,Since he had started playing in the secret garden, he is getting better day by day. In the course of time he can walk. This is called "Magic" by them. He is heathy boy and he can walk,this surprise Mr.Craven. Mr.Craven please at him. This story is like magic. But this story never say " Not realistic". So, this story call on somethings to us. For example, Children need their parents, and need love. The most important thing parents can give their children is loving affection. And there are the overflowing bounty of nature. Both of them is very important for chilren to get childlike excitement. I enjoyed reading this book;"The Secret Garden".
