Acetanilide

I systhesized acetanilide from aniline and acetic anhydride at the chemical experiment. Acetanilide, a white crystalline compound, C6H5NH(COCH3), formerly was used in medicine to relieve pain and reduce fever. It has been replaced by safer agents because of its toxicity. Today, I am going to measure the melting point of the acetanilide in order to appreciate purity of the acetanilide.
